We have finally finished the literacy assessments and are ready to do some guided reading! This week your child will take home his/her book bag for the first time. It will be sent home on Mondays, and needs to be returned on Fridays for new books. 2-3 "good fit" books will be in your child's bag; they will not be easy books, but at the same time, not so hard that they are frustrating for your child to read. Please have your child read aloud to you or another adult. All books need to be read by Friday. It's up to you how you want your child to get it done on what nights work best for your family.
We would still love to have more parents join our PTA! :-)
Thank you for the book orders--they should be arriving this week.
You should get a letter from MISD with login information for Parent Connect for accessing your child's grades. I have put a button on the home page that links to Parent Connect. Numeric grades are new for 1st graders; please be mindful that a lot of what we have covered so far has been a kindergarten review. In the coming weeks, grades may or may not look different for your child. We will have fall conferences in a month or so; we can talk more about grades at our conference.
I am attending a digital fluency academy every other Tuesday for the next few weeks. I am learning so much, and it will benefit our class!
